Garbage collection services begin when water/sewer services are established. To apply for these services, visit the Water Service Business Administration located at 1000 Metro Center Drive, Jackson, MS 39209.

The City of Jackson offers reliable residential garbage collection services designed to support clean, healthy, and well-maintained neighborhoods. This service is provided twice each week and is available to residents living in single-family homes, duplexes, and triplexes. The program ensures the timely and efficient removal of household trash generated from each property, helping to maintain public health standards and enhance overall quality of life for the community.

1st Collection day: Household Garbage Only

2nd Collection day: Household Garbage (Allowed upto 2 bulk items and bagged leaves)

Bulk Items include Furniture, Mattresses/Box Springs, Radios, Televisions, Couches, Toilets

Holiday Collection

Your regular collection day for trash and recyclables during the holidays will not change unless your collection day falls on or after one of five holidays.

The following are the five holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King, Jr’s Birthday
  • Fourth of July
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas day

 

Example: If your normal collection day falls on or after one of the five holidays listed above, then your garbage will be collected on the following collection day.
