Office of Housing and Community Development

The Office of Housing and Community Development stabilizes neighborhoods and connects residents to affordable housing, rehab, and homelessness prevention services in Jackson.

Mission:

OHCD’s mission is to promote safe, decent, and affordable housing, revitalize neighborhoods, and provide resources that support stable and sustainable communities.

Core Programs:

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

Funds public improvements, blight removal, and community services that benefit low- and moderate-income households.

HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME)

Supports affordable housing development, homeowner rehab, and homebuyer assistance.

Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG)

Provides funding to nonprofits for shelter operations, outreach, homelessness prevention, and rapid rehousing.

Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA)

Provides rental assistance and supportive services for residents living with HIV/AIDS.

Housing Rehabilitation

Repairs health and safety hazards in owner-occupied homes.

Homebuyer & TBRA Assistance

Offers down payment support, closing cost aid, and rental assistance for eligible households.
