Sign Permits are issued by the Signs and License Division of the Department of Planning and Development. This division is responsible for accepting, reviewing applications and the authorization of sign permits. Individuals or business owners who wish to place a sign on or off their premises must obtain a sign permit. All signs must meet proper height and setback requirements.
The sign ordinance was enacted by the Jackson City Council with the following goals:
The Signs and License inspectors are responsible for locating illegal signs and notifying owners who must comply with the sign ordinance within a designed period or be fined.
Applications for sign permits can be obtained on the first floor of the Warren Hood Building, 200 South President Street, Jackson, MS 39205.
